Storage data prepared for storage investments

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has opened draft proposals for public consultation that introduce changes to five separate secondary regulations related to electricity storage investments, following the recent change in the law.

The authority shared draft proposals related to Licensing, Balancing and Settlement, Storage Activities, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), and Automatic Meter Reading Systems procedures and principles.

According to the announcement, the drafts will be open for comments and evaluation until the end of business hours on September 19th, 2022.

The amendment was published on July 5th

The amendment to the Electricity Market Law, which aims to promote energy storage investments, was published in the Official Gazette on July 5th, 2022.

The change in the law, made under the title “Production Activities,” provides energy investors with the right to obtain a license without competition for the wind and/or solar power plants to be established proportionate to the capacity of the energy storage investment in return for committing to make an electricity storage investment.

The amendment also includes providing the same right for capacity increases of existing wind and solar power plants.
