The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has updated the “Reference Construction Periods to Determine Preliminary License Periods and Facility Completion Dates” decision. With the decision dated 30 September 2021 published in today’s Official Gazette, the previous decision published in the Official Gazette dated 25 June 2020 has been repealed.

The update includes provisions that determine the construction periods for electricity storage facilities.

According to the relevant provisions, no separate construction period will be given for units or units planned to be installed in production license applications. For storage facilities to be installed under supply licenses dependent on existing production licenses, a construction period of 18 months will be given.

The d and e paragraphs added to the second article, which determines the reference periods for construction periods to be included in production licenses, are as follows:

d) No construction period will be given separately for electricity storage units/units planned to be installed within production license applications.

e) In case of integrating independent electricity storage units/units into existing production facilities within the scope of existing production licenses, regardless of whether the production facility is in operation or not, a construction period of 18 (eighteen) months will be given as the completion time for the storage units/units planned to be installed, regardless of the number of electricity storage units and installed powers.

The 8th article added to the decision is as follows:

An 18-month construction period will be given as the completion time for independent electricity storage facilities planned to be installed under supply licenses. This period will also apply separately for each electricity storage facility to be added to the license in question.
